Centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans

In 2023, the motorsport world celebrated the 100th anniversary of one of its most legendary events: the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Since its inception in 1923, the endurance race has stood as a pinnacle of automotive excellence, pushing both man and machine to their absolute limits.

As part of this rich legacy, Le Mans Classic was established in 2002 to honor the historic cars that once competed on the iconic Circuit de la Sarthe. Every two years, the event transforms the circuit into a living museum, where the roar of classic engines and the smell of burning rubber transport spectators back in time.

Richard Mille plays a key role in this celebration as the official partner of Le Mans Classic.

Known for their precision engineering and cutting-edge designs, Richard Mille watches have a strong affinity with the world of motorsport. Their timepieces, much like the vintage cars racing at Le Mans Classic, are masterpieces of technical sophistication and aesthetic appeal. The partnership between Richard Mille and Le Mans Classic is a natural fit, as both are united by a passion for mechanical excellence, innovation, and a dedication to timeless style.

To mark the 100th anniversary of Le Mans and its own involvement with Le Mans Classic, Richard Mille has crafted a special edition timepiece that pay homage to the spirit of endurance racing. The RM 72-01 Le Mans Classic chronograph Richard Mille's commitment to performance, durability, and precision mirrors the essence of what makes Le Mans so captivating.

The new RM 72 showcases a two-tone case crafted from Richard Mille’s Quartz TPT material, which combines carbon fiber sheets with silica inlays. The bicolour green and white case creates a powerful contrast. This colour palette extends to the dial, where an abundance of details, particularly on the chronograph registers, evokes the imagery of vintage cars’ white wall tires.
